Spent the day in Cheyenne. Weather mild and sunny. First we visited the old Union Pacific depot museum built in the 1870s. The place is beautifully restored and full of historic artifacts. There is a nice second floor area where we could view the train activity, multiple freight trains every half hour filled with grain, coal,  oil or other  cars. We broused a few antique shops and had lunch in a 75 year old restaurant across the street from the depot. I had the best mushroom soup and shared it with Dad as he was behaving himself.
We spent several hours at the Nelson museum, the personal collection of Bob Nelson. We got a special tour of his more than 20 authentic American Indian eagle headresses, two with feathers down to the floor. Amazing items. Lots of other Indian, cowboy, outlaw and early military objects. He was also a big game hunter and had an odd assortment of big game from all continents mixed around the museum.
The town also has many 10 ft tall boots around downtown decorated by different artists. Fun to see and good for posing. This time of year we had few other tourists at any of the places we went to so that was great. There is a military base on the west side of town and we have seen some big transport planes fly over. Off to Golden, Colorado tomorrow .

  1. I hope dad is wearing his FitBit! Sounds like a good day! It has been cold and rainy here so you're not missing too much back here at home.

  4. Pete- did you think about putting Alice inside the boot? Maybe have her head sticking out just a bit? Of course you wouldn't want to leave her there.
