Day-8, Golden CO to Grand Junction CO, 232 miles over the continental divide at 11,991 feet. The air was thin up there and I felt spacey, which for me is normal even at sea level. In Grand Junction we walked down to the Amtrak depot, just in time to see the arrival of the 9-car California Zephyr, heading from Chicago to San Francisco. The depot was crowded with passengers, coming and going. From there we hiked back to town to wander through a crowded Cinco de Mayo street festival. Grand Junction is very much a tourist town, very similar to Traverse City. All told, we walked 4.94 miles today.
