Day-17, still in Springdale UT at the south edge of Zion National Park.  Zero miles on the Jeep today because we used the shuttle buses to get into the Park and around town.  This helps to avoid the frustrations of jammed parking lots and roadside shoulders.  But we put a little over 6 miles on our shoes, hiking the river trail and parts of others.  All the trails are surrounded by astounding mountain scenery and sheer cliffs virtually unmatched elsewhere.  Old friend Glenn Kroh, a professor at TCU, has led many field trips throughout the Southwest and has helped us find the best trails in the various parks.   Here in Springdale you don't even have to leave our hotel to see some of the most dramatic scenery.  Tomorrow we head to Cedar City UT.  The weather has been sunny but comfortably cool.

  1. Glad to hear that Zion has figured out how to reduce traffic congestion. I bet it won't be long until other big parks do the same. Those landforms are so beautiful.
