Hi guys,
Day-7.   Cheyenne WY to Golden CO with a few hours at the Buffalo Bill Museum on Lookout Mountain west of Denver.  The museum has the most impressive posters, some huge, I've ever seen.  We visited the museum once before, 11 years ago when tiny Georgia went wild on her broomstick horse and kept us all chasing her up and down the trails.  Buffalo Bill's grave site is there as well, with spectacular views encompassing four states.  His wife, who in life he avoided like the plague, lies about four feet away.  (Her idea, not his!)
There are many historic artifacts in the museum that detail Buffalo Bill's rise to fame in the mid- to late 1800s.  He died in 1917, after 40 years of running his Wild West show.  He performed multiple times in Lansing, Ann Arbor and Traverse City!
We had buffalo burgers on site, at ten bucks apiece.
On the way to the hotel here in Golden we stopped at an antiques mall the size of a football field.  Millions of items and yet nothing of interest to us.
One final note.  There is now a dense, eye-stinging smog dome over the Denver area.  At least that's the way it was today.  And the traffic on on the interstates in and around Denver is as dense and unpleasant as the smog.  Although the views of the snowy Rockies are spectacular, we wouldn't want to live anywhere near Denver.  Sad.
Tomorrow we head up into the mountains to Grand Junction CO.
     Take care all.

  1. I remember going to Golden with Suzie and Jared many years ago. That's too bad about all the smog in the Denver area. We are a day late (May the 4th be with you) but we're watching the new Star Wars Rogue One right now. I'm not totally sure what's going on. Guess I should stop blogging and start watching! Enjoying all the trip updates. 😊❤️

  2. It was not that long ago that Georgia rode her broomstick buffalo (it was a buffalo not a horse!) and wore those tiny chaps in the visitor center. I'll have to see if I can find that video. I remember hunting for pinecones along the trails after. So maybe it was 10 years ago, but it sure doesn't feel like that long! We miss Colorado and enjoy seeing these pictures!

  3. Hi Dad! That is too bad about the air quality. :-( Hope those buffalo burgers made up for the traffic. I'm glad you had a good stop otherwise. Going to check out the pictures now.
