This is a postscript to yesterday's blog, describing our travel from Cheyenne to Hulett WY.  When we arrived at Bob Coronato's "Rouges Gallery" we were welcomed like old friends.  We've bought some fine things from him over the past 5 years and have gotten to know him well.  He is a very talented and increasingly well known artist of western subjects, and now has a large painting at the Smithsonian.  When we walked into his gallery he immediately ushered us into the back room to show us his best-ever find, a spectacular Indian tomahawk that extensive research has linked to a specific Indian Chief and the U.S. soldier he killed with it during the historic Indian Wars of the late 1800s.  An amazing piece...AND HE BOUGHT IT AT A YARD SALE!!!  A sizeable book has been written about the tomahawk and the research that was done about it.  It was an exciting evening at  Rogue's  Gallery.
From there we had a big dinner at an exceptionally small but exceptionally good restaurant just a few doors down the street.  From there we walked back to the hotel.   A tiring but great day!  Today we plan to go over to Devils Tower, 9 miles from the hotel.   Take care all.

  3. I'm waiting to hear that you made Bob an offer he couldn't refuse and are now the proud owners of the prized tomahawk.

    1. The tomahawk was a huge NFS! Based on tomahawk sales I've seen at Wes Cowan's, it would probably go through the proverbial roof. I should post a pic.

  4. That is an incredible story about the tomahawk. Makes you wonder what’s floating around in people’s garages and basements.
