Today was 256 miles from Wichita Falls TX to Amarillo TX, with a side trip in Amarillo to see Cadillac Ranch where ten Cadillac cars stick out of the ground.  The Caddies were stuck there in a line in 1974 and have since become a famous tourist attraction, visible from the Interstate.  Nowadays, many visitors bring cans of spray paint and spray anything they want on the cars which are now completely covered in bright colors and designs.  We hiked a few hundred yards through a farm field to get to the cars, inhaling spray paint fumes the whole way.  Very strange but a true bit of pop culture Americana.  Unfortunately, many hundreds of discarded spray cans litter the landscape for a sizable distance all around the cars.
Lunch was at a Subway.  Our dinners, except when we visited the Krohs, have usually been frozen something-or-others microwaved in our hotel room.
Tomorrow we plan to go to the historic Palo Duro Canyon about 25 miles from Amarillo, site of Indian battles and a favorite hide-away for outlaws in the early West.
The weather continues to be perfect, with temps in the 60s & 70s?

  2. You are not eating nearly as well as your other trips. What gives? Don't tell me you can't find a good steak or BBQ or grilled rattlesnake in TX. In fact if you say that on social media you'll be tarred and feathered.
