136 miles from Fort Worth to Wichita Falls, TX  today. Stopped at Fort Richardson, built to protect settlers from the Indians whose land they were taking for their ranches during the 1860s and 70s. The stone hospital building is original. The cottonwood officers quarters is the oldest original wooden one in the country built in 1867.
Stopped at the Dairy Queen in Archer City, TX for lunch, a favorite place to eat for Larry McMurray and written about in one of his books. We saw his house that once belonged to an oil baron and his former bookstore, Booked Up.
Saw lots of trees with mistletoe growing in them. Also palm trees! Off to Amarillo, TX tomorrow.
