Day 38. Rapid City, SD to Chadron, NE. First drove through the Custer State Park where we found one of the buffalo herds next to our road (males, females and young ones). One inquisitive animal wanted to sniff  the passing cars. Don't know how the bikers and bicyclists did with him? We also saw quite a few big males off on their own or in small groups. The park has about 1300 of them. We also saw antilope, very friendly burros and passed a praire dog town about 5 miles long. Had lunch in Hot Springs where the state had a huge sanatorium that made use of the hot mineral water.
We stopped at the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron and were blown away at the number and quality of the items. Will have to go back tomorrow. They also have a great bookstore we hardly looked at yet. The museum is on the site of a trading post from 1837. It had been reconstructed and is intetesting. We will be here for another day or two.
