183 miles today, Cody WY to Buffalo.WY.  63 of those miles were a traverse of the Bighorn Mountains, going up to 9,500 feet at the Powder River Pass.  When we came over those mountains two days ago the weather was very sketchy after a significant snowfall and the visibility near zero due to blanketing clouds.  Today, the weather was perfect with unlimited visibility and the mountain and canyon scenery spectacular.  Going west we took the more northerly route (rt. 14) whereas today we took the more southerly route 16 which feeds right into Buffalo.
Before leaving Cody this morning we spent 3 hours at Buffalo Bill Center of the West, always a favorite stop for us.  You see things in their Western collections that you see nowhere else.
It took 3.5 hours to get to Buffalo, including several short stops along the way.
Now we are settling in after a truly great meal at the one Chinese restaurant in Buffalo.  Great food in a totally dumpy little building that you would avoid were it not for the raving online reviews
Please take care all.

  1. Twice we had animals run across the road just behind us: antilope just east of Cody and deer up in the mountains. Yesterday and today are 30 degrees warmer than Sunday;very happy for that!

  2. Looks like a great couple days of touring around. Your blogs always makes want to revisit the western US, but they also make me hungry. Sitting in my office just now I ate a banana and an English muffin with PB. My life is just too exciting for words.

Hope you hear from Mike soon and that all is well. Knowing Mike he probably traveled to some hard hit areas to help with the rescue and clean up. Let me know when you do hear.
