We spent the rainy day wandering around Le Claire and visiting several antiques shops, including Antique Archaeolgy, owned by Mike Wolfe of the American Pickers TV show. Although we saw many neat things we didn't do any buying. I have my sights on a very nice AMERICAN RAILWAY EXPRESS sign but it's a bit too long to fit conveniently in the jeep. Still deliberating on that. A big barge just floated by the hotel and trains pass by all night. Their whistle may be annoying to some but to me it's music to my ears. Lunch was at Sneaky Pete's right next to the river. Excellent food and good service. We're hoping the core of the rain system, with severe weather and tornadoes to the south, will soon be behind us as we head to La Vista, Nebraska tomorrow.

Arrived in Le Claire, Iowa after driving 383 miles from home. Nice day until we left Michigan and the rain started. It rained heavier and heavier all afternoon. Miserable with all the semis on the wet roads too. We were so glad to get to our hotel.
Lots of dogwood and redbud blooming in the Michigan woods and lots of apple orchards in peak bloom. All urban sprawl or farmland in Indiana and Illinois. We will be here tomorrow and continue west on Monday.
