Day 5: 196 miles today, Munising to Ironwood. Beautiful day, sunny and up to 74 degrees.  First stop was at Lakenenland, an outdoor sculpture park about 30 miles west of Munising. We drove a circular path through 37 acres of woods with more than 80 large whimsical works from scrap iron. It is open 24 hours a day and free. Great fun!
Marquette was congested, under construction and a relief to leave behind. Very little traffic to Ironwood through woods that have not yet leafed out. We toured the Ironwood depot museum built in 1892 when iron mining was big here. Nice collection of local history.
We are in Central time now.

a wolf - dog hybrid

Day 4: We spent most of the day in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We visited the old Coastguard station and the Munising Heritage Center located in a 1925 school. Miners Castle and the view from that site was great. Miners Falls were awsome. The hike to it through a carpet of blooming spring flowers was also awsome. We are resting our feet after walking 5 miles and plan to get whitefish at the "Fish Basket " tonight.

Munising Falls
Day 3: Traverse City to Munising, about 260 miles today. Alice started today, her birthday, by opening all the cards from family. Thank you all! We drove the scenic route along Lake Michigan to Mackinac City via Petosky, great weather. We had lunch there before crossing the bridge. Around the Cut River bridge the temperature dropped 10 degrees and we ran into fog. As soon as we left the lake the temp increased and fog disappeared. The trees are just beginning to leaf out.
We visited several beautiful waterfalls near Munising and then had a great white fish dinner. What a birthday for Alice! Hello Lake Superior!

Does anyone have a good caption for this photo taken at Wilson Antiques?
Day 2: Spent the day with Jeanie and the boys. We had a great lunch at Scalawg's Fish and Chips and wandered through both Wilson's Antiques as well as downtown shops. Liam likes unique items like his Grandpa does and Kellen found a toy train engine. A very nice day until returning to the hotel and finding 2/3 of the parking lot tarred over. No one knows when they are returning to do the other third.

Frank Lloyd Wright was here?
Day 1: Saint Johns to Traverse City, 164 miles todays. Nice day for driving but rainy this evening. Wonderful to see the boys waiting  for us in the front yard. Jeanie and Colin have made a lot of progress finishing their basement. We met their lab, Willow, for the first time; great dog.
Enjoyed a pizza dinner and surprise birthday cupcakes for me 2 days early. Thank you Jeanie! We also celebrated Kellen's birthday a week early with his birthday gifts. Looking forward to spending the day tomorrow with Jeanie and the boys.
